Oman Fuel prices suffered a regulation similarly as the other states in the Middle East. The amended fuel prices came into effect on January 15, 2016.

After more than 17 years, the price of petrol in Oman was set to rise, by a full third for super unleaded, pushing the Sultanate’s ranking from the 9th cheapest fuel provider in the world to the 13th place.

Darwish bin Ismail Al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs in Oman, mentioned in a press statement in December 2015, that a government committee comprising the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the CEO of Oman Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) was to be in-charge of deciding the monthly fuel prices in Oman and to ensure that it is linked to global prices.

Following these decisions, the Fuel price in Oman is set on a monthly basis and announced 3 days before the date of implementation next month. The committee was also in charge of ensuring the implementation of these fuel price changes to all petrol stations and making sure they are in full compliance with the new fuel prices in Oman.
